Grabbing healthy, additive-free muffins at Pandapool Muffin as the starter, take a ropeway to the Squirrel Village atop Mt. Kinka. (※Avoid using strollers due to flights of stairs) Morning is the best time to feed hungry squirrels. Another 10 minute walk, if possible for children, will lead you to Gifu Castle. Enjoy a great panoramic view of the city while munching on the muffins. After coming down the mountain, visit the Gifu City Museum of History where you can take pictures of your family clad in kimono from the Warring States Period, try clay pot puzzles as well as playing some traditional games. On your way back, stop by a picture book shop named, "Okina-ki" (Big Tree) and browse nice picture books for souvenirs.

At the Nagaragawa Ukai Museum, you can see real cormorant birds, interact with the video picture that moves when you walk on the floor, enjoy the beautiful view of Mt. Kinka and the Nagara River on a sofa in the lounge. On your way back, stop by the sweet shop, "Matsunoya" to buy its signature ice cream, sandwiched in a pair of sticky rice wafers, and savor it on the riverbank.
